Preserving Iowa's Rail Heritage
Educating current and future generations about the railroads that built Iowa, from steam mainlines to the electric interurbans that once linked our towns.
About the Chapter
Founded in 1953, the Iowa Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society brings together people who care about Iowa's railroad story. Our mission is simple: preserve Iowa's rail heritage and educate current and future generations.
Members gather for regular chapter meetings, run the electric railway at Midwest Old Threshers in Mount Pleasant, and document the lines, cars, and people that kept Iowa moving for more than a century.
